Short courses provide a valuable and cost effective way of both training new staff and in keeping existing staff up to date with new techniques.
Courses are kept as informal as possible and in most cases consist of both lectures and workshop demonstrations. The current programme of short training courses are open to delegates from industrial, governmental and commercial organisations who wish to learn through continuing professional development. Courses are generally of 1 to 3 day duration and provide a practical introduction to the subject. Emphasis is placed on basic techniques and application areas with theory kept to the minimum necessary for an understanding of the subject. The courses also provide a valuable networking function where delegates and staff can exchange news and ideas in an informal atmosphere.
