Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any entry qualifications required to attend the range of short courses ?
All the courses listed have a practical format and although intended for engineers and technicians, there are no prerequisite educational requirements. Where a background knowledge is advised, this is specified in the appropriate literature. Mathematics is generally kept to the minimum necessary for an understanding of the subject. The courses are not designed as undergraduate or postgraduate primers and are not available to full-time students.
I am participating in a company continuing professional development (CPD) scheme. Do the courses provide evidence of participation ?
Yes, at the end of each course every delegate is provided with a signed certificate of attendance which may be incorporated into a CPD folder.
Why does the course fee not include accommodation ?
Hotel standards and costs vary sigificantly and we have found that most delegates prefer to have a choice of overnight accommodation. The course fee includes lunches, refreshments and a short course dinner if specified.
What support documentation is provided for course participants ?
A full set of bound course notes is provided for each delegate. This is typically over 100 pages of material for a 2 day course. The notes include graphs, figures and diagrams with detailed explanations, similar in style to a short text book. Electronic copies of Powerpoint ® presentation material are not made available.
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the course. Are there any handouts and notes which I can purchase ?
Course material is provided for delegates in support of the programme of lectures. Misinterpretations can arise when these notes are studied in isolation from the course. They are not intended as a stand-alone document and therefore we do not sell the notes separately.
We have a number of engineers who would like to attend one of your short courses. Do you offer a discount for a group of people from the same organisation ?
We can offer a discount for multiple bookings which is one extra free place for every 4 or more paying delegates on each course.
